Where I live, it's relatively impossible to not dip into boost, regardless of how you drive. It's a very mountainous area, so having something else control boost is essential if not hitting higher psi is the goal. Picture going up a mountain or steep hill whilst behind slowly moving traffic. It's not easy to stay out of boost then, because the car can't make it up the mountain at a slow pace without torque, and by the time you have enough torque, you're well into boost.
